fiarcrackah - so you have reduced your HBA1c from 15 (FAR too high!) to 6.2 - that is a really good improvement!

Well done and keep up the good work!

My doctor is still convinced I need the medication until at least my next lab work is done. He wants to make sure I’m staying on my lifestyle change. But being in recovery from food addiction I can’t afford to go back to the way I was. I’m determined to be healthier. The diabetes will always be there but it’s how I either master it or let it be my master is what counts.

Be guided by your doctor, he knows your medical history and where you are in your addiction recovery.
It seems to me that you are doing very well.

Have always found it a struggle to get my weight down, but leaving aside the relapses my weight has slowly come down and I'm continuing to tweak my diet, and the best result I have had is reducing my portion sizes. After my last visit to the Nurse, I have halved my medication and in anther month, will have my blood sugar checked to see if it has stayed down or not .

I have dropped about #35 lbs by just cutting quantities ate in the last few months. Blood sugar is about perfect here.
When eating with others they all have commented about my lack of food intake, and still are used to the old me, i cut about 50% down but will still stop at Billy Bob's Donuts for holes on my way fishing Thursday. Unless they have over 1 truck ahead of me in line, that's my cutoff point to say no.

Still a struggle to lose more weight, but it still is very slowly continuing down, even if it is very slowly. The main thing is that it is not going back on, so am grateful for that. Need to start upping the amount of exercise I'm doing, as that should help some more with the weight loss .

I was told early on that if I could lose just ten pounds ... it would make a huge difference in my pre-diabetes. A1C 9.4 Ok so I set about loosing weight by cutting back my portions, and cutting back on beer.

I lost 60 pounds. IMO that did not help a-bit. I still take 2000mg of Metformin p/day A1C 6.4 . So if the weight loss was so crucial , why do i need the Metformin ?

My A1C should be much lower than it is ... again IMO.

Some people can lose weight and then no longer need medication for type 2 diabetes.

But not everyone can get off meds, even at a healthy weight.

Combination of medication and weight loss has got your HBA1c down from 9.4 to 6.4 - seems a good outcome to me.

Well .. Ok but. I forgot to mention Jardiance was added as well. So I just doubt the weight loss was significant, in the diabetes correction ? But I have become used to the smaller portions, and like being lighter weight, and really don't miss the beer. I usually drink one p/night , maybe 2-3 nights p/week.

I just really doubt the medical community anymore. Just like stem-cell ... all that it was supposed to do for me, including pain relief. Well, after a four joint procedeure & $10,000 out of pocket expenditure ..... not one damn thing has improved ... pain is the same.

I could go on about the neuropathy therapies I've tried as well but ..... It is allot of typing to explain, and the same let down/disappointment ..... So.
