They were restored and coloured using Corel Photo-Paint. The restoring before colouring can take a few hours. The black and white one took ages to to. I did start to colour it but the result didn't look all that good. Better left black and white.

A good job on the park scene coldfeet. Adding colour to an old photo rolls away the years.

Edit: Thanks cahoots. The ones shown are family photos but I have done a few photos for others by request (just because they asked - no money involved). They were pleased with them. Providing there is some detail to work on, it is mostly possible to do a fair job. Some photos can be a bit too far gone to restore all that well.

Yes, very good. I can tell you are into image editing as much as I am. Ever since I got a computer, I've always been interested in the things it could do with images. Creating images line by line in vector programs, photo editing and mixing the two ways together keeps me happy for hours sometimes.

I have quite a few programs installed for the purpose. Some don't need any skill or practice at all to give good pictures, such as SuperPhoto and Painnt that just add filters or frames to photos for all sorts of great effects. A lot of fun that anyone can do.

Xara Photo & Graphic Designer is my most used program but over the years, I've collected quite a few others as well as the ones already mentioned:

My Dad passed away in 1990. I have his guitar, which was handed down to me, which of course I treasure. When I was a toddler, he would sit on the end of my bed strumming it and singing songs like 'Close your sleepy eyes my little buckaroo.' The guitar is about the same age as me. I only have one photo of him playing it which was probably taken in the 70s. It has two marks over his face, which spoil the photo. I would love to have it restored if it would be at all possible. I thing a lot of the background could be cropped out as well. This is the picture...

This is the method used in Corel Photo-Paint:



1. The original photo.
2. Convert it to greyscale and do any restoring/enhancing it needs to make it a good B/W photo.
3. Create a layer over the top of the converted/restored photo and apply the paint.
4. Make the painted layer transparent to a large degree so that the background photo shows through.
5. The coloured photo. Enhanced a little after doing all of the above.

A larger picture is best but I hope this is somewhere near OK. Always a bit difficult with blemishes around the mouth. Only got to be a few pixels out and it changes the look of a person...
