Does anybody know how to remove Bing from my computer ?

I did a bog standard update a little while ago and ever since then Bing has become my 'search engine' without permission.

It's driving me mad ... I have to keep on requesting 'Google.com' in my search bar before I can search for the thing I really want to find.

Bing has all the irritating little bubbles that appear in side bars pushing you towards AI searches and engagement ... they block the page and are irritatingly intrusive.

I have tried to reset my search engine following instructions I've found online but that doesn't seem to be working.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

To remove Bing search from Microsoft Edge, you need to:
Open Microsoft Edge.
Click the "..." icon at the upper right hand of the window and select Settings.
Select Privacy, search, and services.
Scroll all the way down to Services and select Address bar and search.
Under Search engine used in the address bar, select Google or another search engine.

I did a search (using Bing) for this: "Can you remove Bing for search if you use Microsoft edge?"

my browser (Edge) is set to open with a set of 5 tabs, being my most used websites, one of which is "Google.co.uk". In my settings 'Start/Home/New Tabs' I entered the addresses of each of the sites and then chose 'Open these pages' so I'm presented with them at switch-on and always have the Google page available.

Does any of this help you?

Your computer should, in its settings, allow you to set your preferred search engine from a list of those installed.

Bing would remain but in a dormant capacity.

The way to stop this happening after an update is to ignore the page that opens up when starting Edge. Just close the browser down and restart it. That page shouldn't open again and your settings will be retained.

Letting MS finish setting up Edge afterwards (as offered) seems a natural thing to do but all it means is that the search engine and start page are reset to open Bing. Everything can be set to preference again (see shadowman's post) but it's a nuisance to have find the settings to do it.

hmm

I mentioned earlier that you can set Edge to open a pre-chosen set of website tabs on opening - with no sight of Bing!

It's in 'Settings/Start, Home & New Tabs' and you just add the addresses of which ever you want. I have my used-every-day five tabs presented to me every morning when I open Edge.
