What begets violence? Where do I start ? Racism, driving people out of the countries of their birth, or, as in the past, forcibly removing them from the land of their birth to be used as a commodity to fill the coffers of greedy rich landowners ; assumed superiority because of a lighter skin colour ; dismissing people's needs because they do not live up to the ideals of elitists...poverty is another circumstance that begets violence. Violence stems from slow burning anger bubbling up until it cannot be contained. We need to reflect sometimes on how others feel, consider feelings that spring from lack of self worth . Walk a mile in their shoes.

There seems to be some contradictions in the article to me - eg we have supposedly lost our social skills and at same time we should be able to say whatever we want.

We should get involved yet movements are people who dont know what they are angry about ( I think generally dismissing protests as people who dont know what they are angry about is a cop out when somebody doesnt agree with the views of the protesters)

and I dont agree that there are two types of people - Leaders and Followers.
We dont all fit into one box or the other.

So, that is my opinion on the article - like Aida I would be interested in where it is from.
If it is your own words please say so or cite source it is from.

In general, I think violence begets violence.
Also, oppression, repression and suppression can generate anger and violence.

Just looking back through history, States of absolute monarchy or dictatorship have produced populations of unfairly treated people who have no freedom of expression and when they have reached breaking point and banded together to stand up for themselves, violent revolution has often ensued.

I have seen similar responses in family conflicts - when children are exposed to anger and violence or if they are oppressed and not respected, they become frustrated and angry and more likely to erupt in violent ways.
