I usually recycle old Christmas cards but found a better use for them this year, these little gift boxes are so easy to make, I’ve lined mine with cotton wool and tissue paper, ideal for small gifts, pieces of jewellery, nail polish, a chocolate treat etc.

How to make a box out of Christmas cards

I have lots of old Christmas cards, a brilliant idea.
Looks easy to make from the video you posted Wren, i wonder if it's necessary to erase the messages with Tipp Ex before cutting and folding.

Maybe not...

Gad it looks so easy..... hmmmmmm..... do the cards have to be a particular size? Wondering, as Vienna is, what to do about the greetings/messages??? I guess covering them somehow.....

Okay on the next soggy day when I have nothing to do, going to try this....

Thanks Wren!

I found oblong shape cards are easiest, square ones may need a trim down two sides, also when making the folds I flatten them with the scissor handle for a firmer fold and secure them inside with sellotape

The greetings/messages look quite authentic, and nice to return to the sender as a box with a gift, but they can be covered with Tipp Ex or marker pen, they’re in the base anyway so will be covered with the tissue paper

Post pictures if you have a go ! smile.png

I donate all my surplus wrapping paper, labels, ribbons and Christmas cards (removing names and details) to a local playgroup for kids to make stuff with.

That's a lovely idea! Maybe the kids can make the boxes.
