You need to use your imagination to piece together the picture .
Have you done one of these puzzles ?

No, I have never seen or done one. I had to google them to find out what they were about.
Am very interested in getting one now

Thanks for the photos Patty.

I love doing jigsaws and I have one on my table under the pergola, do a bit at time ,relaxing after work etc - usually takes me about 3 weeks to finish each one.

I always do 1000 pieces and busy sort of pictures, not landscapes and such

here are photos of the last 2 I completed.

My wife has done several puzzles and I have framed them, am going to fix them on the stairs wall, just need a volunteer to get up the ladder.
I made a coffee table years ago and on it was everyone's first names about 30 staff, it looked like a crossword puzzle.
The library is finished gone and the caretaker has the table in his man cave/shed now.

Could you explain what this sentence means please?

Framed jigsaws would look good along a stair case caretaker

I don't really have anywhere in my house to put framed ones - and I would end up with so many - what I do after I've finished them is take a photo and keep in a photo album - and then give it away to my friend or donate to 2nd hand shop.
