In reply to Redeye, the custom for a man to walk on the outside stems from the days when there was no sewage..People used to "Slop out"! any garbage/human waste was thrown out of the top window and the person walkin gon the "Outside2 was more likely to "Get it"!

Yes it does and does not need to be a 1 way road. I was taught the 1 plus way or reacting to others go to the next level of kindness they show you or otherwise encountered, it has worked very well for me in my life as most are very good people.

I have always been appreciative and noticed men who extend themselves and are polite with manners
and all that goes with it. Cheers to the men whom are courteous and thoughtful.

I agree Rips, old fashioned is appealing, as for many men (not all) it is a lost art.
