Does the US having two National Holidays designated as 'Independence Day's help foster the notion of "one nation, indivisible...'?

I'm not sure what you mean. I only know of one Independence Day....that is July 4th.

Today, President Biden signed a bill that makes June 19th, "Juneteenth National Independence Day."

I know it's hard for our US cousins to keep track of their holidays, they have so many, but yes, the Congress in a bipartisan effort pass a Bill and President Biden signed into law June 19th as "Juneteenth National Independence Day" as Classic48 stated.

Juneteenth is now a federal holiday in the United States celebrating the emancipation of African American slaves. Originating in Galveston, Texas, in 1866, it has been informally celebrated annually on June 19 throughout the United States. It is more colloquially named Freedom Day, however, as a federal holiday the is no guarantee that State employees or private sector workers will be granted the day.

Which is a good thing. It's worth noting that some in the US did not have freedom & independence until that date. It celebrates inclusion in the "One Nation Indivisible"

Per Kayy Gee/ Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States celebrating the emancipation of African American slaves. Originating in Galveston, Texas, in 1866, it has been celebrated annually on June 19 throughout the United States

It deserves a holiday of it's own,

"Juneteenth National Freedom Day" is a better choice.

KayyGee -

Hello and thank you for your participation.

England has many 'Bank Holidays.' We often have holidays named something in particular. When those are National Holidays, they are most often also Bank Holidays. In the case of the US, it might be difficult to know which came first. ...a bit of a chicken and egg matter. :)

Having two 'Independence Days' seems to lean in the direction of divisivness...an Independence Day for them...and Independence Day for us. "Juneteenth National 'Freedom' Day" would eliminate that possible anomoly. Of course that might also eliminate a 'teachable moment.'

...wonder just what forces are at work in creating the name for the new holiday.

I'll take any federal holidays. It means I get another paid day off.
Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday was the last one added back in 83.
