In the early days of me having a computer, I was always crashing it and having to wipe the hard drive and start again. The worst thing about it though, was that the internet was accessed by a dial up connection over the telephone line. What a difference a decade or two makes and now having fast broadband.

I think the answer for me is that it depends on the nature of the mistake.

If it's a skill, particularly a manual skill I am learning, then yes, I am unlikely to make the same blunder twice.

But when it comes to matters of the heart, or emotion, then I think I repeat errors.

I guess the difference between the first and second examples is that in the first, I know what the outcome will be following the mistake. In the second, I hope that the outcome will be different to next time.
