Field mice are the prob here. They must be Millennials, they like Home comforts that much.
Subscribing to the WWF-UK giving them the chop would be traitorous,
Assumed solution. Frequency emitting plugs in almost every power socket.
Result. "Smart" Mice. They pause by them. As if they were playing Top of the Pops.
Alternative. I move into the Garden Shed.

They are vermin.

Mice carry Hantavirus and Rats Leptospirosis amongst other things.

I wouldn’t scream the house down or jump on a chair if I saw one, but I would call Pest Control.

And allegedly everyone lives within 6 feet of a Rat , however the new data says 164 feet so much better ... I expect they serve some purpose , just have to work out what purpose

When my OH was a young man he worked on a poultry farm and witnessed just how clever and intelligent Mr Rattus really is. He was going into collect the newly laid eggs one morning and stopped dead as he watched a rat clutch an egg, roll onto his back still clutching it whilst another rat pulled him along the ground by the tail, presumably back to the nest.
Rats do have a purpose, (google is your friend)

Rats are rodents that do actually serve a purpose in the ecosystem. They are scavengers and opportunistic eaters. They will eat garbage and other things that people throw away. Plus, rats are important as part of the predatory ecosystem. Owls, falcons, hawks, and other predatory animals feed on rats. The animal ecosystem is a delicate balance and losing on an element within it can be detrimental to the entire system. Some lizards, reptiles, and snakes prefer to feed on rodents such as rats, for example.

I see rats when I walk by a large pond just scurrying about, and that doesn't worry me. Field and harvest mice are ok by me too. But I wouldn't care for a rat in the house.
One of my daughters when a youngster had a rat, Which I did actually manage to hold once or twice, but I wasn't keen on its tail.

I had a pet mouse years ago. I don't mind mice.......although not free running about the house......
I dislike rats, and when we had one in our garden eating the birds food, I called in Envirnmental Health, who put down poison for it. I, knocked doors each side of our home, to inform the neighbours of the poison, in case it got dragged into their gardens, and they have dogs. It was a little sachet of blue pellets, and the man said they would take it back to the nest. I hasten to add that I hate killing any creature. But people must come first.

Rats and mice don't bother me. I always have sticky mouse traps around the house if one decides to come here
Around the feed if I see mice I know I will run into a snake sooner or later.

Had several unpleasant encounters with rats and mice.

Was severely bitten on the thumb by a mouse that i tried to rescue from two of my cats - thought I was going to die from pain and fear

Mummified mice underneath my fridge (no idea how long they were there) thanks to my tabby who brought them into the house still alive through the cat-flap!

Rats scurrying across my feet in a dark and damp basement stock-room of a shop i used to work in years ago..

I could go on but it will give me nightmares..wink.png
