One in 8 Americans reported they sometimes or often didn’t have enough food to eat in the past week, hitting nearly 26 million American adults, an increase several times greater than the most comparable pre-pandemic figure, according to Census Bureau survey data collected in late October and early November.

These are not third-world countries! I would imagine they wouldn't mind killing
and eating a crab. They would love to eat a burger if they could afford it.

I reiterate - we are spoiled much!

It is a sad state of affaires that so many people live beneath the poverty line in supposedly rich countries like the USA (46 million i believe) and the UK too.

But families who live below the poverty line do not usually go out and catch and kill their own food so if you asked the majority in this situation the OP question, i think i know what the answer would be.

If you're hungry enough.. you will find a recourse.
We will not know, unless we are put to the test.

Please send all your edible crabs to me... I go out to catch crab, boil crab, clean crab and drink beer with friends. You don't want to eat a dead crab, the belly acids will start to eat up the meat inside. You can send crab and crawfish if you want.

I presume you are thinking on the lines that we humans all become vegons
Eventually in time there would be no food left for us to eat as the animals would have eaten all of it.

What if for the lack of food the animals became carniverous?
That could put us humans at the bottom of the food chain.
Just daydreaming out aloud

Exactly, animals allowed to reproduce meaning our plant based diet will be challenged/eaten by the animals .. I ask again will we need to cull to make sure we have enough veggies ?

Can we have an abundance of animals and humans competing for the same foodstuff ie veg? Not sure What do you think the solution might be ? Naturally animals kill animals for food and always have in order to survive. It's the way animals are farmed and killed that is the issue IMO If vegetables are the answer what do we do with all the animals ?

  I don't consume any crustaceans, but if I did I would certainly want them dead before doing so ....

The Red Lobster Restaurant has great seafood. It's fine for them to do all
the preparations. I like the Seafood combo platter. smile.png

I eat crab and lobster, amongst other seafood, and have cooked them from fresh - sometimes within half an hour of catching them.

Humans evolved to eat a mixed diet, including meat, and I try to source food from sustainable farming, with animals bred and killed humanely.

Putting a live crab or lobster into boiling water is not killing humanely.
There is a more humane way, but most people are too squeamish to do it, and so the 'easy' option is to drop them in boiling water.
