Beware. If a muddy he will object and take your fingers (If large one) Hand off
Crabs spew out while being cooked. If you kill it first this will not happen.
For all those people saying they could never kill it.
How many would Swat a Fly, Step on a cockroach, Kill a Spider etc?
Double standards here.

No double standards here.
However I can understand why people would kill flies as they can spread disease by spewing up and defecate on all surfaces & food ....many flies also spread illness by biting.
Fly strike is major problem if you keep sheep ...many horse owners have to protect their horses from flies .. also cattle.

And spiders?

I’m surprised you even had to ask .
Absolutely not .... it’s awful if a tiny one accidentally goes up the vacuum! I’ve had that happen before
I am frightened of large spiders & remove them to the garage .
In the U.K. spiders are harmless to most people .
Hotter countries I can understand the fear of poison arachnids.

In college, I worked in the meat/deli/and seafood depts. of a retail grocery store.

My state is famous for crabs, both hard and soft-shelled.

The hard crabs are sold live; never buy one that is dead. You steam them at home.

The soft ones, we killed. You take them home and fry in butter. They often knew when they were about to be killed (scraping the lungs and cutting out the waste bag) as evidenced by the fact that they'd urinate when you lower the knife.

As an alternative, you could buy cans of crab meat and make crabcakes, a Maryland specialty.

Going off at a tangent though ... If animals were not killed for food would they have to be culled ?

I would think so because most of the predators have been wiped out or starve due to lack of food for them.

The meat that ends up in the butchers (even the name is horrible) and the supermarket is not usually wild I don't think ... most meat is farmed isn't it?

No because meat that’s sold is farmed & intensively bred .

Agree, but also they would not exist if no longer needed , a bit like race horses, no racing no horses ?

For the time being maybe.
But more and more people now are becoming vegetarians/vegans, and this is likely to escalate in the coming years.
And if people continue to give graphic descriptions of how some animals are slaughtered (as they have on this thread) then it will help more people to make the decision to give up eating meat or related products.

If farm animals used for food ceased, The animals would eventually become ferule
Eating anything they could find to survive
I presume you are thinking on the lines that we humans all become vegons
Eventually in time there would be no food left for us to eat as the animals would have eaten all of it.

What if for the lack of food the animals became carniverous?
That could put us humans at the bottom of the food chain.
Just daydreaming out aloud
