watch people mowing next to where i work and they didn't mow over the blue bonnets. I thought they were going to but they didn't.

Haven't seen it for a long time now but in Australia we used to get a blanket of blue flowers, Much the same that appears in your photo.
It was called Pattersons curse.
History said that a English women, Mrs Patterson visited Australia many times and got bored with the barren look of the country side while travelling by rail.
It is said she threw seeds from the train window and they grew wild killing all the grasslands.
Just a bit of trivia.

Ol fella - Pattersons curse or Salvation Jane as they are called here in SA - I hope we are seeing them less, they might look pretty but they are an invasive noxious weed.
