Her in the UK, if you have broadband, then you have a land line as well. Some providers do offer just the broadband without the land line but it is more expensive to do it that way. Only use the land line to make calls that are to a freephone number or for receiving calls. Most calls i make are from my mobile, as they are included in my monthly package at no extra cost.

They have such a thing here also, but..it is not a *true* land line..
If the electricity goes out..you don't have a phone..as it is tied to your internet..
A *real* land line doesn't require electricity..which is why I like them better.

Had cordless phones which when the electricity goes off, means they cannot be used. These days have wired phones so if someone does call me on the land line, I can answer it. But I only have about two people whoever do that, so at some point I will do away with that.

No just have it for the broadband. I don't know the number even! If it rings it's only scammers so I never bother.

We have a land line with a message machine, I find its easier for the entire family to call there, and everyone gets the messages, vs the cells, that are for one person. I am using my cell a lot more for internet and camera then phone calls.

Have both. Landline is for business stuff and the cell for quick texts to the kids and emergencies when I am out.
