You can see the 1 has been moved over ...

joe90 wrote: I dont see it as a waste of time there is a house down my road that has 3 out of his 11 cars that have pvt plates . As most of these are on modern top of the range cars and built after 1975 it's a really easy nick. There are lots of these easy nicks in my area the police or government could make a fair bit of cash at 1k a time. I mean they could get 3k just from my neighbour's cars !!!!. I saw a modern van yesterday which had a black number plate with silver letters/numbers on the front again an easy nick as it was built after 1975. If I can see about 10 pvt plates just driving doing my job every day why cant the police ?
I would guess should these car owners with illegal plates have a crash as it's an mot failure that means their insurance wont pay out so not only have their an illegal number a failed mot and an invalid insurance and the police ignore them mmmmm

Unless the illegal number plate was the cause of the crash (which is unlikely) it’s highly unlikely the insurance company would be able to refuse to pay out. They would not be able to refuse to pay out third party claims, anyway, which is the minimum insurance you are legally obliged to have.

With that degree of 'Cherished' Lawlessness. Would have thought the next best place would be the >> Crusher.

OK, I'm lost?? What is the benefit (whether legal or not) for someone to move the "1" and leave the gap? Is there some benefit for the car owner to do this?

You can see the 1 has been moved over ...

No as the picture was taken from the internet from a story about illegal number plates I was just using it to show what I meant by illegal plates. I have nothing against pvt plates as long as they have not been tampered with.

But it's laughable.....that number plate may be illegal according to the law but why? It is perfectly legible so what's the problem?

Surely the police have better things to do!

Ever heard the expression, the law is an Ass ?

Explain to me why that number plate is a problem, the actual reason?

Perhaps the (ANPR) technology Carn't read the modified plates ? Police use these to identify whether the car is Taxed and insured , so if true this is why... otherwise i have no idea , but seems plausible to me ...
