This is a delightful movie released in 1987, starring Anne Bancroft, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Judi Dench. Anne Bancroft plays a writer (Helene Hanff) in post WWII New York with a passion for English literature. She starts corresponding with a London, England bookstore which specializes in out-of -print english books. The shop is managed by Frank Doel (Hopkins), the movie covers a span of 20 years of correspondence between Helene Hanff and Frank Doel, providing glimpses into their respective daily lives. It's one of my all time favourite movies, with wonderful performances by Anne Bancroft and Sir Anthony Hopkins. I highly recommend it.

Great movie, have watched it several times, a strong connection between two people across the pond.

I have never seen the film ... but it was serialised in the `Book of the Month`... 30+ years ago ... in the`Readers Digest`... Good reading then !
