TOPIC: Roses

Roses 1 year, 7 months ago #52429

Watered the garden a while ago just as it was getting dark and then took some photos - really surprised how this one came out because the camera saw more than I did - how beautiful that looks.

This I took about three years ago, but it is still one of my favourites.

Here is that same Peace Rose this morning - still beautiful, but not as magical as it was at dark last night. Just shows how much we miss in our gardens after dark.

Quite magical Pauline. We've only got three or four roses but I meant to take some photos to show them too - might do so later and worry about putting them on Buzz later!

Re:Roses 1 year, 7 months ago #52574

Will look forward to seeing those photos Steve. I fell into a trap with the roses because I only had two ramblers when I moved here (which are still there and blooming well) and always avoided getting anymore because I had enough of them to take care of in my Mum's garden. When she died I did move some of her plants to my garden, but the roses were too well established to take those, so bought one in her memory (my Blessings Rose) on what would have been her next birthday after her death and ordered three Peace Roses as her name was Irene (origin Greek meaning peace). So now ended up with six and adopted two miniature roses from a neighbour and have bought another three of them since, so I am back having arguments with thorns again

Caught this little bugger on a lilly pad just about to start breakfast.

That's ok Robert, I don't mind you putting your snails near my roses because they don't damage them - just keep them away from my delphiniums

Yes I have to agree on that Steve and they were very good photos Robert. In fact I find them quite graceful creatures when their heads are held up.
